This means that we can become fixated on certain aspects of a car, such as its shape or performance capabilities, just like we might become fixated on someone based on their physical attributes during infancy. Of course, these preferences may vary from person to person, but researchers have suggested that gender differences may play a role in our perceptions of what makes a car sexy.

Fetishizing cars isn't always healthy, though.

Some people become so obsessed with owning a particular model or make that they end up spending beyond their means. Others might use cars as an escape mechanism from daily stressors, which can lead to problematic behavior like speeding or reckless driving. Still, many experts believe that having a healthy relationship with cars is possible if you approach them mindfully and without judgment.

There's no doubt that psychology plays an important role in our interactions with objects, including cars.
