In this study, researchers investigated the effects of automobile interior design features, particularly those involving the choice of materials used to create soft furnishings such as seats and upholstery, on drivers' sexual arousal during driving experiences. Specifically, they explored how certain textures of material, such as leather, can influence the psychological state of drivers and their perception of sexual attraction towards cars. The study involved an online survey that was completed by a group of participants who had recently purchased a new car equipped with Nappa leather seats. Participants were asked to rate their level of arousal while sitting inside the car and touching various surfaces, including the steering wheel, gear shift, door handles, and armrests.

Results showed that touching the car's Nappa leather seats was associated with higher levels of sexual arousal compared to other surfaces. This finding suggests that tactile sensation plays a significant role in stimulating erotic pleasure and sexual imagination in Rolls-Royce interiors.

Respondents reported experiencing heightened feelings of intimacy and closeness when seated in the car, which may be attributed to the luxurious and sumptuous nature of the material.

The study revealed that some participants experienced confusion or discomfort when engaging with the leather surfaces due to its unique texture and smell. This suggests that while Nappa leather may be attractive for many, others may find it unpleasant or even repulsive.

This does not negate the fact that the material continues to hold allure and appeal to many drivers, particularly those seeking a premium automotive experience.

The researchers believe that future studies could explore the use of different materials and designs within car interiors to further understand how they impact drivers' sexual experiences. They suggest that designers and manufacturers could consider incorporating more textured surfaces into their vehicle models to enhance the sensory experience for consumers and create an atmosphere conducive to romantic or passionate moments.
