Psychologically speaking, an engine can be seen as a metaphor for the male genitals while a carburetor can be compared to female sexual organs. When starting a car, the man becomes the "engine" by turning the key to start it, while the woman is the "carburetor," providing fuel for the vehicle to move forward.
