PSYCHOLOGY OF CAR OBSESSION: WHY DO WE LOVE OUR VEHICLES SO MUCH?

Cars and their parts have been objects of fetishes for some time now. There are car clubs where members show off their cars and engage in activities that involve them. But it is also known that many people feel more connected to their vehicle than just driving it around town. The connection between car and driver can be an emotional one. One way to explore this topic is through the psychology of cars.

In order to understand how a person feels about his or her car, there needs to be some research into why they feel so strongly about it. Many studies have shown that humans have a deep connection with their vehicles because it represents freedom and power. This feeling may come from the fact that you can go wherever you want whenever you want without having to rely on someone else to get you there. It might also stem from the control that comes with owning something like your own personal space.

Another reason could be due to the sensuality associated with automobiles. They provide tactile stimulation when touching different parts of the interior such as seats, steering wheel, dashboard, shifter handle etc., which creates arousal and pleasure by activating certain areas of the brain related to sexual desire. Some people even find themselves fantasizing about what would happen if they were inside another car while experiencing these same feelings!

One study showed that those who drive sports cars reported higher levels of satisfaction during sex than those who drove sedans or family-sized vehicles. Another study found that women who drove convertibles felt more desirable than those who didn't drive at all. These studies suggest that there is a link between driving behavior and sex appeal.

Not everyone agrees on whether this association exists or not. There are still many questions surrounding this issue since we don't know much about our psychological reactions towards them beyond what we see in advertising campaigns.

The next time you are driving down the road, think about how you feel about your car and what emotions arise from being behind the wheel. Do you get excited just thinking about it? Does the smell of leather make your heart race? Or do you prefer the smoothness of wood grain finish over chrome accents? What does it mean for you emotionally to be able to turn off all distractions and focus solely on yourself while in motion?
