Automobile drivers can be easily and powerfully stimulated by certain sensory signals that are experienced while driving, but it is important to recognize what these cues are and how they work in order to avoid confusion.

Driving a car with a manual transmission may lead to an increased level of physical exertion which could provoke feelings of excitement, but this response is unrelated to the specific action of shifting gears. Instead, the driver's body is preparing for possible emergency situations such as sudden braking, evasive maneuvers, or quick acceleration. Drivers tend to feel more attracted to people wearing bright colors or tight-fitting clothes, and those who see them from the front are often perceived as being more approachable than those seen from the back.

Researchers have found that the most powerful factor in determining sexual interest is the sense of touch. When a driver's hand comes into contact with another person's skin while they are driving, it can produce electrical signals that mimic the same effects as actual physical intimacy. This effect has led some automakers to install features designed specifically for erotic interactions between drivers, including adjustable seats, massage functions, and heated steering wheels.
