A recent study has found that different textures can have varying effects on arousal levels. The researchers investigated the impact of four types of automobile textures - smooth, rough, furry, and plush - on participants' levels of arousal. The participants were shown images of cars with each type of texture while their brain activity was measured using an EEG machine. The results showed that individuals who viewed cars with smooth textures had higher levels of arousal than those who saw cars with rough or furry textures.

There was no significant difference between participants who saw cars with furry and plush textures. This suggests that smoothness may be associated with increased sexual attraction in automobiles.

Effects of car placement on attention and arousal

Another study looked at the effect of where cars are placed in relation to the viewer's gaze. Participants were asked to look at pictures of cars parked in various locations, such as facing forward, backward, sideways, upside down, and underneath. They were then asked to rate their level of arousal based on how they felt when looking at the car. The results indicated that the location of the car did not significantly influence arousal levels.

When viewing a car from the front, participants reported feeling more attracted to it than when viewing it from other angles. This indicates that positioning could play a role in initial attraction towards a car.

A study found that participants rated cars with shiny, metallic rivets as more sexually appealing than those with matte ones.
