CAR SEXUALITY: UNDERSTANDING HOW WE FALL IN LOVE WITH OUR VEHICLES.

The study of human behavior and cognitive processes is known as psychology. It is an interdisciplinary field that draws from many areas, including biology, sociology, linguistics, philosophy, anthropology, neuroscience, and mathematics. One particular branch of psychology is concerned with how people think, feel, and behave when they interact with cars. This subfield has come to be known as automotive psychology.

Automotive Psychology

Automotive psychology is a relatively new discipline that explores the ways in which humans interact with vehicles. It examines the emotional, mental, and physical responses people have to their car, truck, motorcycle, or other vehicle. The main focus is on understanding how people perceive and respond to their vehicle's features such as speed, acceleration, handling, engine noise, interior design, and exterior styling.

Car Sexuality

One aspect of automotive psychology is the concept of car sexuality. In this context, a person's relationship with their car can become so intense that it resembles romance or intimacy. People may view their car as a partner, lover, companion, or even parent. They may refer to it by gender-specific pronouns (e.g., "she" or "he"), give it personal names, treat it like a living being, and express feelings of love and affection for it.

Eroticism and Arousal

Another part of automotive psychology is eroticism and arousal. When someone experiences sexual pleasure while driving or simply looking at their car, it is called autoeroticism. Some people find themselves aroused by pressing down on the accelerator pedal or watching others do so, while others are turned on by feeling the vibrations through their body when shifting gears. These behaviors can lead to fantasies about sex involving cars or other objects related to them.

Psychosexuality

The intersection between psychology and sex is known as psychosexuality. This field studies how our sexual desires and behaviors affect us psychologically, emotionally, physically, and socially. It looks at how people experience desire, attraction, arousal, orgasm, pleasure, pain, and intimacy in relation to themselves and others.

Fetish Fantasies

Some people have fetishes or fixations on certain aspects of their car, such as its speed, engine sound, or exterior design. They may become sexually aroused by these features and incorporate them into their sexual fantasies and behavior.

They might imagine having sex with their car, another person's car, or someone who resembles their car.

Attraction and Confusion

People may also be attracted to specific vehicles based on their aesthetic qualities, performance capabilities, or cultural associations. They may feel confused about why they are drawn to certain types of cars or drivers. This confusion can lead to feelings of frustration, anxiety, or embarrassment if they don't understand where those attractions come from.
